Design Features The main benefits of the Fuidyne ‘Atmos’® Detonation Flame Arrestor, Flame Arrestors, Detonation Arrestors, Flame Detonation Arrestors are derived from its unique element design. The large channel openings provide excellent pressure drop to flow and enhanced flow characteristics often resulting in reducing overall size and cost of both Flame arrestor and piping. In addition to this the less restrictive nature of the larger channel openings result in less clogging and easier cleaning - both important maintenance considerations. Finally the element enables higher operating pressures to be achieved. The Fluidyne ‘Atmos’® Flame Arrestor after extensive research has been certified and type tested by FCRI, B.V., CCOE and other government agencies, and has also received the most stringent approval for Flame Arrestors, incorporating extended burn time performance, and have acceptance with B.P.C.L, I.O.C.L, H.P.C.L, L&T, R.E.L, R.I.L & B.H.E.L., and many other chemical, pharmaceutical , power industries and petrochemical industries. Operation Fluidyne API standard Flame Arrestors / Arresters are also known as Flame Traps. Fluidyne API standard Flame Arrestors are manufactured in various designs and applications like Detonation Flame Arrestors and Deflagration Flame Arrestors, In-Line and End-Of-Line Types. Flame Arrestors stop the propagation of a flame by absorbing and dissipating heat through the large surface area of the bank sheets. Ignited vapor attempting to pass through the arrestor is forced through small passages within the bank assembly. Heat is absorbed, lowering the temperature of the gas below its ignition point and quenching the flame. Flame Arresters are typically used in the chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries on applications such as storage tank facilities, flare stacks, incineration systems, storage tank roofs or digester convertor to prevent the propagation of confined and unconfined deflagrations. Detonation flame Arresters additionally stop the high pressures and velocities that can result in detonations. In case of ignition of vapors, they burn harmlessly at the flame arrestor, preventing ignition of vapors in the tank and subsequent explosion. Fluidyne Flame Arrestors, Detonation Flame Arrestors, Detonation Arrestors, Flame Detonation Arrestors are often used along with Breather valves. Kindly view our special section on ‘Breather Valves’.
Advantages of Fluidyne Flame Arrestors:
They stop the spread or propagation of fire and flame.
They control and prevent explosions in tanks and pipeline.
They confine, enclose, control fire, flame and explosions.
They protect valuable life, property and equipments.
Configuration Fluidyne ‘Atmos’® Flame Arrestors are available for all common gas groupings to IEC or NEC codes, and supplied in range of sizes/materials/options; Net Free Area - three to four times inlet area, Bank Assembly - ostensible and removable.
Fluidyne Detonation Flame Arrestors are specifically designed for high flow velocity and undesirable ignitions or explosions within the housing. Fluidyne Detonation Flame Arrestors have an unique modular design with high mechanical strength with two or more number of flame banks stacked together that gives high reliability and performance of the product.
Arrestor The FLUIDYNE Horizontal Flame Arrestor is gas piping systems for high flow flow capacity and specifically designed to prevent liquid accumulation in the flame bank assembly. The Flame Bank consisting of a spiral wound crimped ribbon for high flow capacity with minimum pressure drop. Standard material include cast steel, stainless steel body materials for most environments for periodic inspection and maintenance. Fluidyne in-line flame arresters is designed with an eccentric housing to automatically drain condensate build up in the housing specially developed for bio-, sewage and other gas applications. Due to its eccentric design in contrast to conventional concentric flame arresters the device can be installed in pipelines that run close to floors or walls. The distance between potential ignition sources and device should not exceed the L/D as per EN ISO 16852 limits (L/D)max ≤ 50 for deflagration flame arresters for explosion group IIA1- methane.
Fluidyne Standards for Maximum Experimental Safe Gap (MESG) is a standardized measurement of how easily a gas flame will pass through a narrow gap bordered by heat-absorbing metal. MESG is used to classify flammable gases for the design and/or selection of flame arrestors The National Electric Code classifies Class I hazardous locations into different groups depending on the respective MESG's of gases in the area. The flame bank design selected conforms to the area classifications and requirements of MESG.
Fluidyne Flame Arrestors are often used along with Breather Valves in petrochemical and power plant applications to ensure safety of the plant and equipments. Fluidyne Flame Arrestors cum Breather valves are rugged, efficient and meet the requirements of API, ASME, IS and other codes.
Fluidyne Flame Arrestor Elements are used where such elements they can be installed in existing pipelines or vent lines between pair of existing flanges. They can be also installed at inlet side of Breather valves to act as Flame Arrestor cum Breather Valves. Fluidyne Flame Arrestor Elements are cost and space saving. The limitation is that they are not suitable for very higher flow rates as the flame bank diameter is limited diameter. Fluidyne Flame Arrestor Elements and Sandwich Type Flame Arrestors are very commonly used in Vent Lines and along with Breather Valves. These flame arrestors are approved in L&T, EIL and other projects for uses in various applications.
Fluidyne Flame Arrestor Sandwich Type Flame Arrestors are used where such elements they can be installed in existing pipelines or vent lines between pair of existing flanges along with gaskets. They can be also installed at inlet side of Breather Valves or Vents to act as Flame Arrestor cum Breather Valves or Flame arrestor Vents. Fluidyne Sandwich Type Flame Arrestors are cost and space saving. The limitation is that they are not suitable for very high flow rates as the flame bank diameter is limited by bolt circle diameter of mounting flange. Fluidyne Flame Arrestor Elements and Sandwich Type Flame Arrestors are very commonly used in Vent Lines and along with Breather Valves. These flame arrestors are approved in various chemical petrochemical and projects by L&T, EIL, Tata and other consultants for uses in various applications.
Fluidyne Sintered Mesh Flame Arrestors and Spark Arrestors are often used at end of vent lines and exhausts as economical alternatives to regular flame arrestors. Fluidyne Sintered Mesh Flame Arrestors and Spark Arrestors have large free flow areas and are effective for various applications.
